The ECU gets its SPD signal from the dash cluster. The ECU doesnt care if that signal originated from a mechanical cable or from an electronic sender, it's a switched ground at 4 pulses per revolution of sender either way (from a reed switch/four magnets or from a switched transistor respectively).

I can sell you a complete mechanical E58 sender but these cost $80. I have only one left and will probably kick myself next AE92 conversion I do but you seem to be in trouble Wink

I would suggest this would be the easiest path. Also, if you aren't able to perform the modifcations to your tacho assembly I can do this mod for $20 if you can get the cluter to me for half an hour.
