I am assuming your pod filter is a metal trumpet shaped piece, with a foam cover on the end.
You need to drill a hole in the metal trumpet, and place a rubber grommet in the hole. Then push the "prong" through the rubber washer, which will hold it in place. You need to do the same for the air return hose, (which makes a sucking noise if you leave it disconnected, and will make your engine idle about 500 rpm higher than normal).
There may also be a rectangular shaped sensor attached to your air box, which is not required to be connected to the pod filter. Just attach it securely in the engine bay, somewhere close to the air flowing into the pod.
[Experience taken from 4AGE engine, I expect the 4AFE to be very similar.]
