from what I can see ( my seals are leaky too and I will be replacing them soon) you will not only have to pull off the cam belt but also the thermostat housing, to do it you may as well pull out the whole radiator as well to give youreself some room, Id recomend doing the front main as well at the same time, its a bit or re-assurance that you wont have any leaks for a longer time . Im not sure why your mechanic would recommend to just push them back in as they would most likely just pop back out and continue to leak, better to replace them all-together
