If its not the thermostat, could it be that the aftermarket radiator is too big/efficent for the motor? i know a bloke who put a VN radiator in his MGB and when he raced it at winton in winter, the cooling system all but froze up and the oil was only warm when he checked it in the pits, even after laps of hard racing. even a stock commodore or falcon can sit at cold on the temp guage when cruising at high speed in cool weather.
