Hell of a coincidence that they pull the engine apart, put it back together and you immediately have a new problem with the car.....
May pay to at least argue with them over the bill and maybe wipe off any labour charges since if it was really already faulty it wouldn't have taken any extra time to replace it along with the timing belt.
