don;t go for a ride. alive is better..
as for leaf packs, i bashed them open with a sledgehammer on a concrete driveway... seriously 
not safe get a good suspension place to do it..
as for flat tops, look down spark plug hole with a torch while turning over.
and actually measure the compresion as that figure will help to determine what head it is.
