Guys, any tips on cleaning the engine bay? Since I cant drive my car now, I though, I should spruce it up a little, all DIY!

The rocker covers, can I just take them off, and start? What happens with the components under it? Just cover it with a rag?

Should I sand it down, if with what? Also, the plastic parts, like plug cover, and belt cover, do I just spray over the plasitc? Im new to this "Getting Your Hands Dirty" game! Any Tutorials about??
