what you have heard and how correct it is is dependant on which specific engine they were refering to. In stock trim, i would rate the 4A-G*** motors in the following order: 1. Aus Bigport 16V 4A-GE (aka bluetop) 2. Jap Bigport 16V 4A-GE 3. Smallport 16V 4A-GE (aka redtop) 5. Silvertop 20V 4A-GE 6. Blacktop 20V 4A-GE 7. Bigport 4A-GZE (aka AFM) 8. Smallport 4A-GZE (aka MAP) personally if i were to convert a FWD shopping trolley, i would take my time. Either wait for a front cut that is cheap enough (hardly any are these days - so very doubtful) or start with a smallport 16V 4A-GE, buy some smallport 4A-GZE pistons from toyota (AUD$400 for the set), an E58 gearbox + drive shafts (2nd hand), an aftermarket ECU and slap on a turbo.
