as far as i know the AE86 struts are same dimentions to the XT130 struts, so springs and shock inserts will fit.
the hilux calipers are heavy, yes, but they are of very good design, and have a very large pad. in my setup (see avatar) i'm using pads from a Mitsubishi GTO as they have BIGGER pad area than the hilux pads.
the pad length (119mm) and the upper pin mounts are shared by many other performance japanese factory 4 pot caliper. this is great news as pads from heaps of other cars fit - 200SX, 300SX, WRX, GTO, R32/33 skyline, etc...
