I like using Shrink because most of the the you can fit a Dvd 9 format film onto a Dvd 5 format(4.7)DVD if you take away all the crap you dont need, like Css, region and languages. If can pay for dual layer discs you can do a straight copy and lose nothing. This is only to make a back up copy of dvd's that you already own of course. I'll have to give that TMPGENC a go as well. I got a kicker of a MAlware off a 0day appz site a while back while experimenting with software. It even got into the MBR and survived a reinstall, Killdisk to the rescue.
