Sun, 03 November 2002 06:29 guys this cop bashing gets a bit much. im 32 and have been driving on the road since 16 and before and have only had about 6 speeding fines in that time. i drive alot faster than most people will ever,everday as i drive 150km to work and then another 150km home. i sit on between 140-160 for half the trip, which may sound fast but im a trained drive in a car thats built for it. most of the fines i have got before 20 was because i hadnt learned how to look out for radars and know were they are likely to sit. my worst being taken to the station for driving a street regoed race commodore at 240km\h in an 80 zone{rural area} the reason i was caught because the road was a dead end 5km from were they spyed me. we used this road to test the race cars as there was next to nil traffic because of the dead end. they had just served a warrant or something on one of the last propertys on the road and were heading back on the main road to do some radar work so had it on to show the new constable a thing or to about it. the sargent went metal at me for good reason{i didnt think so at the time} i lost my licence for a year and cost me $800. but i was lucky as i was a race driver. i drive a car that is very unstandard with a full rollcage and have yet to be pulled over in it. when you consider the amout of km i drive a week i must be doing something right{no im not a cop!haha}. i have a few mates that are cops both genral duties and D's so they arnt all bad, just a few young ones get a bit of a power trip going so you just be polite and you wont have a problem. the main reason they pick on young people as these drivers are the worst at speeding as they have no experiance{not matter how good you think you are an old good drive is better than a young good driver everytime.} they will do high speed in traffic{not all} and go from lane to lane in a car that is just above standard not knowing what they are really doing. im just getting things together with some of australias top drivers to get a advanced driving program going for young people so they will have a better idea what happens to a car at speed so they can control it, as you will never get them to slow down but you can teach them to handle it better. before someone says what about the old foggies that do stupid things, well im here to tell you they are as bad as young people that speed, because they think people like myself are idiots but dont realise that some people have speacially built cars and have had years of training and practice. you will all have had yound and old dipsticks that dont keep to the left and take 20km to overtake because they are doing 111km\h in a 110km zone. the time this cost me everyday drives me mad but i have to live with it{wonder if they would mind when they are just about to leave a petol station and said no just wait there for 5-10 minute because i think you should, as i dont see any diffrence in this,but they seem to}. it all comes down to if your on you P's or a few years into your blacks you just have to cop{haha} the cops on the chin and be polite till you get older. there is no other way,i had to go threw it and had times when i hated them but on the whole they arnt to bad. god i hate typing, i two finger type so it takes awhile. mick p.s i wrote this to give you an insight to what i have learnt in my 32 years on the planet,that is all and if it helps one of you great but dont flame me because i wasnt flaming young people just bring a diffrent light to things.
