The offset is *NOT* correct if you have fitted wider than standard wheels to your car. Keeping the factory 38mm is a guarantee that your tyres will foul the guards / suspension.
The rule of thumb is as you increase rim width you must reduce the offset in order to locate the tyre in the same general location, to keep it well away from the guards and suspension.
