The general rules for street manifolds are:
Make it fit - pay attention to hot spots when you're positioning the turbo, and insulate other parts from heat.
Pay some attention to the engine's firing order, for gas delivery into turbo.
Brace it - it will crack and move if you don't
Focus more on tuned length runners as you get more experience and want more performance out of the manifold - that said, you'll never notice the difference on a street car.
When constructing the manifold, bolt it to a straight edge that wont bend or bow with the heat caused by welding it up, and still have the flanges faced after welding.
