i have considered this point, when i was working at holden (ltd)
i had a great idea to make a new V8 for their bommadores. here was my plan:
cast a new block, use existing family 2 parts (thats old vectra, ,astra etc four cylinder motors) like heads, pistons etc.
i figured you would end up with around 200 kw, based on the opel 2.2 litre motor, but then i thoguht of this.
whatt he hell are you going to do with the intake/exhaust? on the four, it goes in one side, comes out the other, so it compicates matters. on pushrod engines they (do on the cleveland 351 at least, and all the others i would think) use the same head on either bank, twincam egines would have to use two seperate castings, or run a countershaft and put one head on backwards, bit too much screwing around.
leads me to believe that a 1uzge would be hard to do, otherwise somerevvy toyota man would have one.
