You probably could, but you'd need very short conrods which is bad news if you want to rev the engine. But why would you bother? 2JZ blocks are cheap and easily attainable.

I would of gone for the longer stroke to lower the rev threshold (Lower revs, but creates more torque)
When creating the torque lower down (And moving more "gas" at the same RPM as before) the turbo will spool quicker, which means boost on quicker, and because boost is not needed at higher RPM, an smaller turbo can be used, that would generally run out of "puff" at those high rpms...

I had also looked around at buying 1JZ-GTE front cut, and 2JZ-GTE front cut, and found the 2JZ to be around double the price from alot of places (Even more if I wanted the Getraq 6 speed)
So I thought the 2JZ block would be worth more, and if it was only a diff crank in use, then would it be cheaper to swap cranks, but with the extra deck height, there becomes an issue...
