Hey Clint,
We don't have aceess to a hoist to put the car on, but we do have an engine hoist. Would you suggest it's better to lift the car and drop the engine or vice versa? How about the gearbox and transfer case issue? Do you need to split these off in order to remove the engine? We were going to remove the driveshaft from the transfer case but we're open to any suggestions if it can be done better/easier.

Ideally...
Drive the car up onto a 2 post hoist.
Place a pallet on the ground under the car.
Disconnect everything (engine loom, aircon compressor, heater hoses etc.)
Using a pallet jack lift the pallet up to the crossmember.
Unbolt the crossmember.
Lift the car with the 2 post hoist.
Drag your whole crossmember from under the hoist with the pallet jack.
