i agree, dont preload it in either direction, but if you must, preload it so it is "pulling in" as opposed to "pushing out"



this is because (from what i have read, made sense to me) under cornering the strut tops tend to move away from each other.

what you could do is drive it for a few days with no preload, a few days "pulling in" and a few days "pushing out" and see which one you like the most.

AFAIK the adjustment is just so you can get it to fit over your strut bolts without jacking the car up and screwing around.
