Actually the Malaysian government owns a fair chunk of Proton, and yes they also own Lotus.
Being a former Proton Gti owner myself i can say that Lotus had done a brillian job on handling but as for the build quality they are a heap of shit, to say the least. I had varying problems such as paint flacking of to clutch pedel and front staibiler bar snapping. There was heaps more problems aswell. As for the R3 it would be a brilliant car to put on the track as it would stick to the road like shit does to a blanket, but for power even 15kw and 100kg shaved of would make it perhaps exciting compared to the Gti. Though i would not give the car 5 points for being able to make it to the end of the race.
Now im just waiting for them to invite me to test drive one
Cheers Adam
