It wasn't my car but the plan was to go to big single or do a rack and pinion conversion. Neither option is cheap. Unfortunately the project stalled and was never completed. PM or email '7M Brisbane' - he was the guy doing it.
Another option might be to make a new manifold for the rear three cylinders to reposition the rear turbo. You'll have to make a new collector pipe for the two turbos, but you'd want to do that anyway if you wanted to run more boost.
I wouldn't let a shitty little thing like that stop you. Buy the halfcut and get to it.
Ideally you will need a JZS131 true mid sump, but you can easily modify a rear sump from a Soarer to work.
As for the auto, I think the Soarer has the auto control and the engine control all in one ECU so this will facilitate things for you with regard to shift patterns etc. Don't take my word on this - research it a bit before you buy.
