7MGE Head Gasket repair- pics provided, advice please... Tue, 11 January 2005 10:26 Go to previous message
Hi all,

Unfortunatley i dont have the cash for a full rebuild, so i'm stuck with this motor for now. I've been getting ready to drop the head back on, but have a few questions.

Cleaned the block down with a scraper then sanded it best i could, but still couldn't remove all the marking on the block surface, should this be a problem? (sorry, i know these pics aren't brilliant)

Pistons 1 and 2 didn't clean up as well as the rest beacuse of some wierd deposit that wont be removed with carby cleaner/scrubbing, so i've just left them as is.

This is the condition of my valves after approx 15000kms since the head was last off and rebuilt, done before I got the car. Only a couple of cylinders look like this the rest have a similar surface but are all black, not grey looking. Could this be because of the car overheating or a lean fuel mix (i had the injectors cleaned and 2 were running lean)

Another thing i noticed was this when i got the head back from the shop:

That last one looks pretty bad, should it cause me problems?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Oh and if anyones got a spare cold start injector for a MX83 i wouldn't mind taking it off your hands for the right price, mines stuffed.
