RE: Leaking struts - for some reason a lot of mechanics call them struts.  Technically it is the strut that is leaking, not the shock.. In most cars they have the shock a part of the strut, so it is the strut leaking oil. 
I just replaced the shocks, springs and struts in the Corolla. But only the front. The rear shocks were replaced last RWC and the rear are leaf, so they sag enough. Cost me a little under $250 for GT Gas shocks and King springs, from Repco with a discount. 
I've had Monroe's and King's in a KE30 Corolla before and they are great for the price. I had a full Whiteline kit in the VH and that was awesome as well. Used Koni shocks though, nice ride. If you're happy to install it yourself, the Whiteline kits are pretty good value for money. Might seem expensive, but they are good quality.
