A rework of line pressure isn't always 'bad' for the box - by reducing the amount of slip, you're reducing the amount of heat+wear between shifts, especially under load. The tradeoff is the rougher shift, which is what many of us LIKE in an auto anyway  It's a lot cheaper than converting to a manual box, and if you generally like having an auto anyway, you haven't got too much to lose. I say well worth it.
