3rd gear might be a sign of warn bearings or synchros. I experianced the same. But not in my car though. The noise went away after a few days of hard revving and a top up of oil. Power steering pump is useless unless u got a twinky with a power steering fitted factory. check if it even has the oil lines to the rack. Rust? All cars rust. Not a problem. IMHO... BUY MY CAR!!!
