styler Forums Junkie Location: brisbane Registered: October 2004	Re: new numberplate recognition tech in NSW Sun, 16 January 2005 10:24 ah the truck saga... i think this is what may have started/evolved from all this technology - the camera recognition software for plates and database system except they arent checking if it is a stolen truck or if the owner is unlicensed or if its unregistered. its a completely different objective, its to stop trucks speeding on their routes, especially long hauls... cameras are mounted at points a b c d e f g h. now driving at the speed limit from point 1 to point 2 takes a certain amount of time, so say you are detected at point 1 at 8pm and point 2 at 3am... now thats 7 hrs of travel. travelling at the speed limit actually takes 9 hrs, so it works out that you have been speeding and you get snapped for it. thats what iv heard, anyone else?
