As promised, some pics:

Right front wheel. Inside clearance from the caliper is more like 10 - 12mm.

Wheel off: caliper sits nice and close to the edge. Also, see the four bolt ends in between the wheel stubs - these attach the disc onto the AE86 hub from behind. Been meaning to grind off the Nissan wording, but never got around to it...

From behind; see the new bracket made up to fit and position the caliper...

Closer view from behind - you can clearly see the welding of the bracket onto the old caliper mount

From above. You can see the holes for the 5 stud pattern in the disc, and how this is bolted onto the AE86 hub.

Got this done around April 2001, and it's been working well ever since. Got the master cylinder bored out soon after, but to be honest it didn't reduce pedal effort or increase feel noticeably. Soon I'm going to get the master cylinder and proprtioning valve overhauled - I've been told that pads are wearing unevenly left to right on the front.
