One word of warning for the configuration shown above, welding of any braking components is not legal in NSW and will not pass engineering.
Just a heads up, engineers like to see a nice machined caliper bracket, the nicer the workmanship the easier it is to get passed.

Like mine.
While I don't really think they are any stronger than a welded/bolted together caliper mount, there isn't an engineer in the country that would turn down a good caliper mount like this one.
They are very light but cost a little more to manufacture.
