also remember that it's the 'dynamic compression' not the 'static compression' that is important.
i run 10.2:1 in my 4K motor with lots of advance (20deg static timing), and have never had it ping.. i did smooth and reshape the chamber (unshroud valves etc) and run on 98, but due to my cams, i have a lower dynamic compression (65 deg overlap)

what better excuse.. "honey the cars pinging again, i think i need to fit a bigger cam Very Happy "
