If your timing light operates with two leads to the battery and one to the No.1 spark plug lead, with the battery leads connected, hold the light next to your head and press the trigger. You should hear a soft electronic whistling sound each time you press the trigger. If you can't hear that then you have a poor 12v connection or your light is possibly faulty.
Also, try the light out on another car and see if it works.
