Gone are the days when flow figures are solely inspected at max valve lift. That has been found to be quite misleading.
Porting each head canal in such manner that we have a fistful of aluminium crumbs on the floor will yield power. No doubt about that. Since engines are not constant velocity inventions, head canal should support/assist flow with mediocre rpm's. This is where pro's know-how steps in.
I really enjoy doing things by myself. I however respect professions (and professionals) that have been in a business for a long time, and being involved with something as complicated as fluid/gas flow mechanics.
There is more than meets the eye. That's why I'll go the lenght to have a pro do my head.
Nothing wrong in doing the 'stage 1' job DIY way. Smoothing casting nicks and so forth - cannot go wrong with that.
