Hi,
I have an 18RG factory fitted air-con.
There is a dual pulley at the bottom of the engine and another dual pulley on the water pump.
The inside belt (closest to the engine) runs around the alternator and water pump and the big end.
The outside belt (closest to radiator) runs around the a/c compressor, water pump and the bigend.
So, both belts pass over the water pump and go around the big end. Inside belt to alternator, outside belt to a/c.
When my water pump broke some years ago, the car was off the road for nearly two months while I tried to source another unit with dual pulleys.
Both pulleys, on the water pump are the same size.
Witzl is correct, the v-shape is merely the groove between the pulleys and doesn't support a belt.
My a/c compressor is an old piston-type unit, circa 1974. To adjust the a/c belt you need to loosen the a/c compressor securing bolts and move the whole unit. It bolts to the passenger side of the engine, just above the exhaust manifold. I assume your unit would have to bolt on in a similar position.
