Also take of the +ve lead and test the current flow by whacking your multimeter on DC current (10A or 20A range) and whack your probes between the lead and terminal and see how much residual current is being lost through the system.
Note: Have the car completely turned off (not even accessories) when testing this.
Normal residual current is around 50-100mA to power your clock and keep the ECU's memory.

Yes and if you find residual current loss you can take your fuses out one by one until you eventually find which circuit is draining the power.
Last time I had this problem it was because the regulator in the alternator was stuffed and was leaking current.
