Perhaps if you read the casting numbers, or gave some pics some of the 3S dudes here could help identify it?

In particular things to look at would be the intake - does it have "T-VIS"?
Another thing is look at the ignition leads, see if they have a date stamp on them?


I was under the impression that only the G head (Wide angle sporty head) was made by Yamaha and that everything else was toyota's doing.

Anyways if you post up a pic of the whole engine it shouldn't be a problem identifying it.
From memory they started printing "Yamaha" on the timing case around the mid 90's on the ST204/5.
