With the strips that go across the doors , the last point towards the rear of the car, on the inside of the door there is a bolt, undo that, then rip the strip off... I learnt the hard way and just kept pulling... With the engine, just swap in the 22RE. The 21R heads are not the same as the 20R heads. Or atleast if you want to be sure, the free flowing heads have round intake ports, my 1982 21R head has square intake ports like the early style 22R's. The 22RE in Australia is like the later style 22RE in the US (Check out www.celica-gts.com). The 22RE has pear shaped exhaust ports and a smaller combustion chamber than the earlier style 22R. In short, don't bother swapping anything from the 22RE to the 21R, the head isnt compatible without major work to the combustion chamber. The EFI manifold doesnt swap to the 21R. You get the idea. I think the strips make the car look better imho. I regretted pulling mine off, and I couldnt put them back on, so I masked up the sides and painted some on in flat black, didnt come up too bad.
