it wont measure voltage drop it doesent have that feature...what it will measure (if its map) is the manifold pressure drop when the aircon etc kicks in and the load on the engine changes, there should be a vacume line to the A/C idle control valve from the T/B, in a fwd theyre usually mounted in the passenger corner by the bonnet mount. Im not positive if AFM measures the same way but I cant see why not.

The problem you have is more likely due to poor sensors or blocked vacume lines, it happens on the T/B quite a bit where the 2 ports on top of the T/B get gummed up...just pull it off and clean it with some carby cleaner to see if that fixes it then work from there.
