It would be great if Autoart made 1:18 scale die casts of the Corona GT's. I have Toyota 2000 GT amd KGCP10 Skyline GTR models, and they are totally awesome. Smile

Now, the 1600 GT that I drove did sell, and here it is with the well known Green 1600S with the 20valve that has been in magazines.

You might ask, well why didn't I buy it-it looks great. Well the photos are a bit deceiving, partly because those pics were taken at a prior Motorfest and I had a good film camera use in conjunction with a crappy scanner. Ironically now I have a better scanner but I have a digital camera so no issues with conversions etc.

The car was "quickly restored" by the Sydney buyer and it is now quite presentable at first glance but it is still not "straight". I hope the owner is not a member of this forum. Embarassed

I am rather fussy and I would have done the job properly, but would have cost even more $$$. I knew what to expect before I saw the car again as I had heard gossip about the new buyer and the subsequent work on the car. With theese pics it is hard to tell but having the car alongside the green one you can see just how good the bodywork on the green one is. It is just on another level altogether.

I didn't mention that the guy who owned the car when I looked at it had another 1600GT! It was white and in a shed and had no drivetrain and the interior was stripped. It had a Toyota Stout engine at one stage...... Ironically whilst this car too needed a restoration, the body on it was straighter than the red one. 95% of the parts were around the guy's property. The guy who bought the red one also bought the white one at the same time! I head that he was going to do a really detailed restoration on it, but I don't know what has happened since then.

That years' show was a very good one for RT40/50 Coronas, as you can see. Cool

I think there was even a ute and a 5 door hatch further down the lineup. All it needed was some station wagons (or vans as they call them in Japan) to complete the picture.

I like the 1st generation Carinas too! The early ones with the TA22 Celica type dashboard I liked the best. They changed the interior about 75/76 and it looked American. The sold a few of them in Europe. I didn't know they sold the Carina in the US. As you would know the enghine options pretty much mirrored the early Celicas.

What is the difference between a Cooper and a Cooper S - engine and otherwise? Rolling Eyes
