Another thing that you may want to consider is that when you were taught in high school the individual teachers could have taught you in one of two ways... especially in maths!
The easy way (for the teacher): teaching you formula's and giving you things to "remember"
The learning way: teaching you to think... e.g. focusing more on how to arrive at a certain formula rather than just teaching you the formula and how to use it.
The way you were taught will effect your performance at university... neither ways are necessarily better but depending on your mindset (i.e. practical or theoretical) it could make university a lot harder or easier for you.
The best example I have seen is with the metric system... as most people in my age bracket (23) were taught by teachers who were originally taught the imperial system.
Because the teachers had to learn the metric system and convert from imperial to metric most teachers that my friends and I had didn't fully grasp the logic behind the metric system.

Read that page and then see how torque (Newton meters [Nm]) relates to power (Kilowatts [Kw])
Now remember that there are only 7 base units and then consider that all of those other formula's (e.g. ohms law) have been incorporated into the metric system by definition... as such those many weeks, months or years you probably would have spent learning these formula's could have been consolidated into an extra weeks worth of teaching on the metric system!
