Nah, I didn't think you were saying the red car was crap. A mate has a concourse winning Cooper S. My van looks great in a carpark, but park it next to his S and it looks woeful. But that's the difference between a $6,000 paint job and a $1500 one. I think when I find an RT11# series hardtop I would like to use it daily. I can't bring myself to buy something boring for the daily commute - it seems silly to register a car I don't want just for that. Maybe I'll start driving into the city, or I will try and find a garage for rent close to the station. Either way, the first thing I'll do is order some spare tail lights in case I get hit. The boot lid and rear bumper is the same as a RT104 sedan - according to my factory parts book. Apparently old cars are disappearing fast in NZ. To the average person they don't make sense to keep running when import cars are so cheap. Even the tradition of getting an old car for for $1000 as a first car is disapearing. They just get a 10 year old import on finance instead. A mate had a Legacy GT sedan here in Aus - sadly an Automatic. I'm not sure whether it was a private import or a low volume jobbie. Either way, it was a foreign market car that had been complied here later, so it was cheap. It was a lovely car! Quick, but it looked like a granny car, so it was a great sleeper. I'm surprised how many "Subaru fans" are hardly aware of the Liberty/Legacy turbo. They seem to think Subaru started making turbo cars with the WRX. I'd rather have the less-showy Liberty myself. Less likely to get stolen too! BMC/Leyland or whatever they were called any given week were very good at badge engineering cars. In Australia they sensibly only applied one badge to each body (mostly). eg: All our early Minis were badged Morris, while all our 1800 series were badged Austin. Heck, in the UK you could even briefly buy a Morris Minor ute with an Austin badge and grille! RT8#, RT9# brochure sounds like a good pickup! I'm hoping to have a brochure on the RT10#, RT11# series within a week. It originated from PNG, is in both Japanese and English and features the hardtop model. No EFI or GT versions unfortunately.
