Have another chat to your local engine importer and tell him you're willing to make a deposit up-front if he'll find an engine for you... it's amazing what a difference it makes when they know you're serious about it. As for the brakes, it will cost an arm and a leg and several kidneys if you buy the components new from Toyota. Aaron (aka NakedTerror) from SupraForums is bringing stuff like this in from Japan all the time, so shoot him an email and I'm sure he'll be able to help you out with some reasonably-priced second-hand gear.
