I used the RA40 gear because I got it for free.

I have only test fitted one strut at the moment so I can't comment on how good it works.

The RA40 master cylinder can't be used as one of the brake lines fouls on the strut tower.

The standard KE30 master cylinder is 11/16" bore and the RA40 master cylinder is 13/16" bore which is stuff all difference so you may get away with using the KE30 master cylinder. I am looking at master cylinders and boosters at the moment and just this afternoon I test fitted an AE71 booster. It fit nicely and is bigger than the KE30 one. I'm making a trip to pick'n'payless on saturday to look at master cylinders to see if I can find a suitable 13/16" unit to use.

If I had to buy struts and stuff I would probably go with the xt130 ones purely because as gr8r-x said you can then upgrade to the hilux/pug combo.

I have pictures of the strut fitted to my car here
