For ease of installation, relatively light weight and low cost an early model Corona MKII would be your best bet I reckon (6cyl to start with so a good sized engine bay). With a shft kitted auto, standard turbos, aftermarket injection, some good fuel and a decent tune you'd slot in easily.

Alternatively, one of the later model celicas (the hatchack type) may have the advantage of decent aerodynamics helping in the top end. Have a look at the cars at the top of the list-they all have good shapes. At 200kph+ the wind noise in my crown is deafening, and it's really hitting an aerodynamic brick wall.

An early model celica will probably more difficult to get hold of in good nick (unless you fork out 2-3 times as much as for a mint corona)-and I'd advise that for ease of building yuo start with an unmodified, mint condition car-it makes things far simpler than if you have to fix it up as well (ie-rust, dents, non-standard wiring to decipher etc).

Be aware that with my 11.37 on the street tyres I'm now back in 8th, and that I suspect that soon that time won't even keep me on the list. (although next time out I'm aiming for 10.8 or faster)

Take it easy
Sean
