From what I've heard, the 1UZ is pretty bulletproof, so I wouldn't worry too much, but as Remedy mentioned, front cuts are also dead cheap as well if anything goes wrong (and if anything REALLY goes wrong, the Aussie delivered Lexus LS400 has the same motor).
If the one for $7k is in good nick, I'd jump on it quickly. Sounds like a top deal to me, but make sure you get it checked out by someone who knows Soarers before buying.
By the way, the TV won't work in Australia without modification (I think $700 worth at last look), and perhaps the radio (depends if the frequency convertors have been installed already). Apart from that, for $7k, you'll be laughing... a brilliant car with plenty of go, and plenty of cruise appeal !
