quest Regular Location: u.s.a. south Registered: April 2004	Re: TD05 16G on 1G-GTE Sat, 29 January 2005 16:40 4g63 dohc 2L found in the eclipse (dsm) = vr4 for u guys = early evos I know of a couple rwd staz and rollas running around with w58 gearboxes behind them. all the negative remarks are purely emotional, as expected. If anybody typed a 10page essay on why a 4g is a poor powerplant choice for a rolla, it wouldn't contain one 'sensible' reason. Who has tried it ? I've had absolutely no problems with mitsu motors.. on top of the benefits listed above. Parts cheaper than the toyotas too. Even the sohc is capable of 300hp to the threads on a t4 sized compressor @15psi - right there with the 'best of todays' 2Ls. Torque on the sohc higher than hp also. The dohc has put every other 4 on the trailer at the drags. I can show a few 'street' 2.4L putting down over 500ft-lbs tq to the wheels, backed up by 10s ETs in heavy arse cars!.. incredible output from such a 'small' package, slightly bigger than a 4ag. Yeah, it must be a terrible choice, eh. At the other extreme, it took the 'mighty' 2jz to put the mitsu 4s 'in their place'(barely), in import drag racing... all the other manuf 4 cyl efforts were in the stands spectating. Guess who put 'em there ? Mitsu turbos are good..... motors are too. [Report message to a moderator]
