It is indeed a JDM ST185 3SGTE, but from what I've seen, the differences between the MR2 and GT4 exhaust lies after the primary cat. So if the MR2's didn't have one, I might take the chance.

Some side questions though that might sway my decision back towards option 1.
Is an aftermarket cat (high flow I suppose) better for emissions than the primary cat pictured here?
Would a motor sitting around for a year or so kill a cat, is there a way to tell if a cat is still functional?
If I get engineered with the standard dump and cat, would it be explicitly mentioned on an engineers report (ie, could I change afterwards without needed to be re-engineered)?
