I've had the Toyo T1S on my supra in 225/50/16 and they grip like nothing else, esp in the wet nothing could beat them.
Like basically all ultra-high performance tyres these days, the T1-S is silica-based, that's why it's grippy.
Having said that though, the treadwear isn't the best like all soft grippy rubber, though the T1-S do tend to wear on the edges too much, so I wouldn't buy them again. Maybe something like Toyo TPG next time.. not as soft, better treadwear, cheaper.

As for the Kuhmo's they are also a silica based compound, like other ultra-high performance tyres, though they do represent the cheaper end of this market, and it shows. They are a good tyre, and all, but put it this way.. if you are going from a non-silica compond to the Kumho's you will love them, but maybe not if you compare it to other silica-based tyres and start to take into consideration factors like road noise and their tendencies to squeal a lot around corners. Still, they are good bang for buck.
