Again so many people speaking from where the sun really doesnt shine. A T18 diff is a T-series, and is only .7" larger than a S series. (6" vs 6.7"). They are somewhat more robust for the centre/ring gear than an S series but similar strength on the axles.
The tailshafts used in the Sprinter are actually quite similar to the ones used in many other performance cars, including the Soarer and Supra. Same design rules apply. They are fine.
T50s are a good box and if you arnt slapping them into gears (not the fastest way to shift) or flat shifting (again not the fastest way) they will survive for a very long time with good oil. Similarly the T series diff with good oil and proper treatment and setup will last a long time.
Diffs should be set up with no back lash, and reasonably tightly shimmed. If you have no idea what im talking about then take your diff to a specialist.
