Check for any other obvious problems that may need correcting. Check rear main seal for any oil leakage that may be evident i.e. massive oil build up around it. Easier to replace this whilst out of car if it needs to be done (hopefully it's fine though). SOme 1G owners may have some specifics that need attention on these engines??
