sorry, should have read the rest of the post.
i can offer one piece of advice,
in my car, i had spring custom made with "dead coils" so say half the spring is really close packed loose coils, and the other half is the hard rate, these stay captive at full dropp, but when the suspension is compressed, the close coils all contact each other, so only the "hard" rate is doing any work.
you could look into this, but i wouldnt recommend it, short stroke is the way to go.
