i had my stock carby (with "high speed valve" removed) for a while, and it was not that bad. the weber had a lot more power, but chewed fuel like no tomorrow as it basically had no idle circuit, and i had to make it very rich since it ate one of the choke screws... but think about this. if you have a bigport.. intake goes from 30mm, down to 25mm (about that in ALL stock manifolds but some of the twin carb manifolds), then turns 90deg (and joins to 1x25mm runner for the early ones) then turns 90deg and opens into a large chamber below the carb.. this is not ideal.. EFI is always better and mine is running very well (7ke), but i think the 4KE setup could be made to work better in midrange. as i keep telling ppl, the 32/36 is not ideal.. it has a primary choke that is suited to a 2L motor, not a 1.3.. 21-24mm is good.. just find any downdraught with that, and you are 3/4 the way there. downdraught is easy but far from ideal for twins, SU's do sound like a good option.. webers are expensive, but good for top end. EFI is good for everywhere. my ideal setup would be 35mm ITB's with EFI... Cya, Stewart [Report message to a moderator]
