4AGE IDLE SPEED SETTING WITH TACHOMETER Sat, 05 February 2005 23:58
Hi guys. Would appreciate some advice re use of Dwell Tachometer when setting idle speed of 4AGE in my SX. I need to re-set the ignition timing but first need to set idle speed, and Im not sure I can do it with equipment Ive got (an old Grimek Dwell/Tach tester)

My Haynes manual shows a tachometer with leads going from + / - of tacho to corresponding leads of battery, but with a third lead going to the check connector.

My old Grimek Dwell / Tacho doesnt have this 3rd lead. Can I still use it (is it compatible with the ignition system?). Im worried I might damage the ignition module or something.

Some help would be great. Had it tuned recently just before the clutch went. Changed it myself but took dizzy out to do it & dont want to fork out money for a tune up again.
