he said the 5MGE in his was a single cam :-S How could it be that my 85 Cressida has the twin cam, but his was a 86 with only the single. And I was pretty sure that I had seen people talk about the 5MGE's being very similar to the 5ME (like ECU's work both ways and bolts right in pretty much) so I tired to explain to him that it would work, but he was full on thinking that it wouldnt fit :-S

the g in 5mge defines the engine as a twin cam. drop the g and you have the single cam...5me!
they are similar in that they will bolt in the same places, and do share some things like starters, alternators etc. the 5mge can also be run using a 5me loom/ecu.
